As part of the duties of a Councillor, I attend several evening meetings. The two latest were the Cabinet, where the draft budget was discussed and the draft Council Tax levy was proposed. This will now come to Full Council later in February for full debate and vote. After this meeting the Shadow Cabinet which I sit on met to discuss the Cabinet meeting.
Also there was a Community Service's Cabinet Committee where an update was heard from the Managing Director of Gravesham Community Leisure Limited (GCLL) who run Cygnet and Cascades Leisure Centres, an update on tourist guides for Gravesham and the latest Council performance report.
Delighted also that a member of the Gravesham Youth Council has a co-opted seat on this committee. The Gravesham Youth Council is now in is 18th year in both this form and it's predecessor the Gravesham Youth Forum. With both the current Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet Member for this portfolio having been past Chair's it is a pleasure to see this important body still being supported by GBC.
