Like many members of the community we live in I was horrified at the demolition of the Battle of Britain. It was a building that holds many memories for me personally.
I was delighted to work with many members of the community and others on a non-partisan basis to highlight the many issues with the demolition and then the subsequent planning application for 25 residencies that was submitted to the Council. The plans including my objection is via the link below or please go to the Planning Portal on the Gravesham Borough Council website www.gravesham.gov.uk and search for application 20170090.
At the 11th hour the planning application was withdrawn just as the Council was to refuse the application. A great victory for the community and I shall keep a watch out for a future application should one arise. In the meantime, I have asked officers to ensure the owners act to make sure the site is secure and maintained and that the fly tipping in there is disposed of.The views in this website contain the views of Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox and not necessarily those of Gravesham Borough Council.
